Klara Skovgaard Hansen

Klara Skovgaard Hansen is a Danish gravel racer based in Girona, Spain. She came to gravel from mountain biking, lined up for only her second gravel race at The Traka in 2024, and a year later was racing full-time as a professional. She rides with COROS.

From mountain bike to gravel

Klara's mountain bike background shows on the descents, which are often where she makes up ground. Girona, with its technical gravel roads, has been the ideal base for learning the discipline. Training under her coach has focused on making her a well-rounded rider: high volume and endurance first, combined with long sub-threshold efforts and VO₂ max sessions.

Comebacks

Her first seasons as a pro have also been about coming back. In February 2025, a week before her season opener, she crashed and fractured a vertebra, which meant four weeks off the bike. She still made it to The Traka 200, the race she had built her season around.

Weeks later, at her first Unbound in Kansas, she crashed early in the 200-mile race and suffered a fractured, dislocated shoulder. She was back at Unbound in 2026 and finished 24th.

Racing with COROS

Klara has trained and raced with the COROS DURA bike computer and a COROS PACE Pro watch, and follows everything from resting heart rate to power output in the COROS app. Coming back from injury, the relationship between heart rate and power was her clearest sign of where her fitness stood.

For Traka she set up three data screens on her DURA: one with time, distance, normalised power, average power, heart rate and current power; one with lap splits for pacing; and one with elevation and average speed to time her fuelling. She has said the battery life gives her peace of mind on long race days.
